Cabbage Soup Diet
It’s very easy to describe the cabbage soup diet – FAKE. Anything else is just a lot of noise. For the sake of filling time, more information is presented.
The inventor of the cabbage soup diet isn’t known. It was one of the diets faxed from machine to machine in the early 1980′s. The diet went under many names, often using a part of the name of a well respected institution such as the Russian peasant diet, or the St. Jude’s diet. But in reality the diet had nothing to do with many of these namesakes.
The cabbage soup diet calls for drinking nothing but water or unsweetened fruit juice on days when juice is allowed. A general outline of the diet is something like this.
Day one — cabbage soup and any fruit except bananas.
Day two — cabbage soup, vegetables – which could be half of a baked potato without butter.
Day three — cabbage soup and any vegetable or fruit except bananas or potatoes.
Day four — enjoy the daily Cabbage soup plus up to eight bananas and skimmed milk.
Day five — cabbage soup and as much as 20 ounces of beef, as well as 6 tomatoes.
Day six — cabbage soup, unlimited beef, and any vegetables except potatoes.
Day seven — cabbage soup, brown rice, vegetables, unsweetened fruit juice, but no potatoes.
It was often claimed the cabbage soup diet could result in as much as 10 pounds of weight loss in only week. Unfortunately that would be 10 pounds in water weight. It’s impossible to lose 10 pounds of fat in a week. What the cabbage soup diet could accomplish in a week is to make someone sick from eating poorly.
In addition the cabbage soup diet isn’t easy. That isn’t to say that it’s complicated, but cabbage soup seven days in a row can be quite bland and boring. Quitting the cabbage soup diet after only a few days was common. There was even an attempt to spice up the cabbage soup diet with new recipes, but that failed.
You don’t have to turn to something goofy like the cabbage soup diet for weight loss. Exercise more and cut out calories in order to accomplish a goal.
